What is GEAR UP?
GEAR UP @ Haysville is a federal grant program that empowers local partnerships comprised of USD 261, Wichita State University and other community organizations. This is the second GEAR UP program that has worked with Haysville schools. Our program follows a cohort model, meaning services are provided to all students in the participating grade level, the classes of 2030 and 2031.
Our program goals are:
Increase Academic Performance and Preparation
Increase Graduation and Post Secondary Education Rates
Increase educational expectations for participating students’ and parents’ knowledge of postsecondary options, preparation and financing.

Parent Square/ Student Square

Why is College Important?
When we talk about college, we mean any type of education or training after high school including 4-year Bachelor degrees, 2-year Associate's Degrees, certificates, apprenticeships and more. Jobs increasingly require some type of education after high school. College graduates often have higher salaries and lower unemployment. College allows students to experience new people and places, explore different areas of study, get involved with different organizations and discover their passions.
